Don Sheil of Australia
Don Sheil was a silversmith with a vision. For years he had played around with metals, spending hours a day experimenting with them, always wanting to exploit the full potential of the alloy with which he was working. It was a tedious and time-consuming passion but eventually Don’s true artistry, talent, patience and design skills lead him to create a unique collection of handmade tableware.
Don's son Mark was always Don’s right hand man. His days were spent on the workshop floor, hands on, making product.
Many labour-intensive processes are used to craft Don Sheil products. It requires patience and skill, with many products taking weeks to finish. Every part of the process is done by hand, from the raw material all the way down to the final handmade signature each piece receives.
From its beginnings in a workshop on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, in 1971, it has never lost sight of that original vision of making handmade pieces of unique, functional tableware. Mass production will never be an option. Each piece will continue to be handmade and engraved with the Don Sheil trademark signature for authenticity.
Don and Mark's unique skills and trade secrets have been handed down, as it enters a third generation and continues to flourish among those who appreciate quality.
Made in Australia.
