Rita Winkler

Rita Winkler grew up and was trained in the jewellery and watchmaking city of Pforzheim in the south west of Germany.  There she did her apprenticeship to qualify as a goldsmith and then a diploma in jewellery design. Working as a jewellery designer creating limited edition pieces, she learnt techniques exclusive to the field. In 1985 she immigrated to Australia and worked as TAFE lecturer in jewellery design at the Bunbury campus for five years. After this Rita conducted workshops at Albany Summer School for seven years. During her career she has exhibited all over Australia and won many awards, examples of her work are in the City of Bunbury Art collection and the Art Gallery of Western Australia.

Rita draws inspiration from the flora, fauna and architecture she encounters throughout her travels in Australia. She is in constant awe of Australia’s unique landscape and what it has to offer and while Rita prefers the simply country life her intricate and detailed pieces reflect her wonderment in response to her surrounds.

Made in Western Australia.
