Nicola Cowie Art
Nicola is a Perth-based artist originally from Scotland. She relocated to Australia in 2005 after completing an Honours degree in Fine Art Printmaking at Gray’s School of Art, Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. Trained in both traditional and contemporary printmaking practices—including etching, screen-printing, lithography, and wood and lino printing—Nicola has developed a professional practice that balances a focused studio output with public and community commissions. She exhibits regularly and partners with government agencies, schools, and small businesses on site-specific projects.
Her studio work is informed by a deep appreciation of nature, particularly her immediate surroundings, alongside an interest in how personal objects shape the way we live and present ourselves. Her ongoing practice explores the natural world through botanical and nature-based themes, and the personal sphere through still life. Working across multiple mediums, Nicola creates figurative and representational pieces with subtle influences of Art Deco and Art Nouveau.
Nicola’s work has received several awards and is held in collections across institutions in Western Australia and the United Kingdom.
