Pottery, Ceramic and Wood Sculptures
This display* includes pieces from potter Felicity Bodycoat, wood craftsman Robert Jones, and ceramic artist Lesley Whitham.
Felicity’s work in porcelain is a collection of pieces drawing focus on colour, form and texture, in an exploration of different mediums and processes. Her background in horticulture and eye for design is reflected in the finishes and details used on the surface of the porcelain. The versatility of using liquid clay presents the opportunity to form detail and texture at a multitude of stages across the process to create a piece that is unique each time.
Robert's practice as a craftsman revolves around woodturning enhanced with silver, copper & metallic leaf. Favouring the textures of Sheoak, Jarrah and Jacaranda, he finds that his objects progress mainly from a basic form or shape which evolves. Constantly revising, he finds that changes in perspective of the original form bring developments in the use of colour or decorative effect. Currently, his inspiration comes from the play of sunlight on water. Rob is driven by sculptural, rather than functional objects.
Scottish-born ceramic artist Lesley Whitham is well known for her characteristic hand-painted ceramics.

Fishes are often seen in her sculptures, which are meant to carry knowledge from one generation to another and across lands. Lesley utilises a myriad of hand building techniques to make her sculptures, and the resulting sculpture becomes unique in their own way.
