'Nikulinsky Naturally: An Artist's Life' celebrates Western Australian botanical artist Philippa Nikulinsky's extraordinary career from the mid-1970s, specialising in plants from harsh environments, especially the Great Sandy Desert.

The book contains many images of Philippa working, and her paintings. Much of the works displayed in the exhibition are reproduced in the book, plus a range of other works from the 1970s to the present, selected by Philippa.

Essays by Ted Snell, Kingsley Dixon, Hans Lambers and Angela Nikulinsky.

About the Illustrator:
Arid landscapes, regeneration after fire and the resilience of Western Australia's plant, bird and animal life have captivated Philippa Nikulinsky throughout her long artistic career. From her many journeys around Western Australia, she has produced, most notably, six books, twenty-two years of cover illustrations for Landscope magazine and numerous successful ranges of dinnerware for Australian Fine China. In 2016, Philippa was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for her significant service to the visual arts.

About the Editor:
Ted Snell, AM, CitWA, was born in 1949 in Geraldton, Western Australia. After completing an Associateship in Art Teaching he travelled to England to undertake postgraduate study in Birmingham. He returned to Australia and began teaching part-time at WAIT (now Curtin University), where he was Professor of Contemporary Art and Dean of Art, John Curtin Gallery. In 2009 he was appointed as Director of the Cultural Precinct at the University of Western Australia. He has been a commentator on the arts for ABC radio and television and The Australian, and has contributed to local and national journals. He has published several books and has curated numerous exhibitions, many of which document the visual culture of Western Australia.
