Silken Twine

Silken Twine make beautiful, hand-crafted, Australian-themed gifts, featuring watercolour artwork by Shelley Barton.

Silken Twine was born by combining Shelley's three loves of painting, sewing and graphic design. Shelley works from her spacious home studio in the south west of Western Australia, which is fitted out with four sewing machines, art supplies, a laptop and a graphic design tablet.

Inspired by Australia's unique, fascinating and sometimes hidden native treasures, Shelley began to create watercolour paintings of Australian flora, fauna and sea life. She saw a gap in the market for Australian gifts that were feminine, tasteful and, most importantly, made in Australia. So, Shelley combined her skills to turn her paintings into beautiful fabric designs, which she then turns into lovely scarves.
