Aspects is lucky to display a range of botanical paintings by plein air artiste and nature lover Jen Mellor. Originally a graphic designer, Jen's passion for painting eventually persuaded her to become a full-time artist, with a focus on beach scenes and Australian flora.
Jen takes a lot of inspiration from Kings Park, so you may see her working on-location or in 'plein air', poised at her easel and painting away amidst the foliage and flowers!
Applying oils in a free flowing style, Jen is able to capture the beauty, details and colours of native botanicals and we absolutely love the energetic brush strokes and textured aesthetic she creates.
Jen has showcased her work at a variety of Western Australian art exhibitions and events, including the 2016 Artist Open House Fremantle and her distinctive pieces are held in private collections both in Australia and overseas.
Her work is best appreciated in person, so pop in-store to browse the gorgeous collection, which features Kings Park botanical beauties including the 'Silver Princess (Eucalyptus caesia)' and show-stopping 'Mottlecah (Eucalyptus macrocarpa)'.
Jen will be working in-store in Aspects of Kings Park between 11.00 am to 3.00 pm on select days this September during Kings Park Festival. Say hello and check out her truly Western Australian work.
