Just in time for Christmas, Dinosaur Designs has launched its newest collection, Atelier -The Artist’s Studio by Creative Directors Louise Olsen and Stephen Ormandy.
Atelier is a compilation of various pieces including resin jewellery, homewares and puzzles, providing perfect gift solutions for the festive season. Renowned photographer Earl Carter collaborated with Olsen and Ormandy to photograph the collection. Stephen has also designed a set of bold sculptural vases; Bottle, Boulder, Cocoon and Studio, which will make stunning centrepieces in any table setting this coming season. ‘There’s a direct relationship between my art practice and the vases’ use of line’ Stephen says.
Coral, aqua, navy and clear is the colour palette Ormandy has utilised for Atelier. A new casting technique evoking a painterly brush stroke has been applied to the rim of each of vase, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of each piece. In the jewellery collection, Olsen said she had been inspired by the art of puzzles. ‘Pieces fit into each other to create a larger form’ Louise says. This resonates in the Atelier Necklace where curved shapes are repeated and interlock, creating a beautiful round neckpiece.
Resin, sterling silver and brass have been used to create curved, triangular and square geometric forms such as bangles, cuffs and necklaces. A playful moment has also been injected into Atelier. Ormandy’s Puzzle piece, further explores Dinosaur Designs’ foray into games, having collaborated with Louis Vuitton to create a chess set in 2004. Puzzle is a sophisticated six-piece resin sculptural set, which sits neatly as a cube or can be dismantled, giving people the opportunity to create their own sculptural moment.
The new Atelier range was launched at Aspects of Kings Park on 27 November and is in-store now.
