Description

Tony Docherty is a designer-maker with a growing practice in a beautiful region of Western Australia’s south coast called Denmark. Since the early nineties Tony has supplied leading wood galleries in Western Australia and the eastern states with furniture, one-off pieces and handmade kitchen accessories that utilise recycled, solid wood.

A keen interest in exploring effective methods for sustainable and efficient use of materials forms an important characteristic of Tony’s design approach. These products have often reflected Tony’s light-hearted approach to design. His distinctive, organic forms express a fascination with the interplay between design process and the material’s inherent features.

Tony acquires wood through diverse sources: farms, old disused buildings and bridges and sustainable milling. Presently in his collection are pylons from the historic Albany jetty with large sections of Jarrah and Karri. His wood sources are predominately Red Tingle, Sheoak, Jarrah and Marri. He also has some woods sourced from the semi arid regions of Western Australia such as Jam, Blackbutt and Mulga.

Aspects stocks a range of Tony's sculptures, servingware and utensils.

Made in Western Australia.
