Description

Chris’s appreciation of, and respect for, the natural environment of Australia has grown over time and with increasing exposure to diverse wilderness locations. It was after trips into the Western Australian outback, where he observed the special nature of our native timber, that his creative interest in making objects out of wood was inspired. Chris has endeavored to reflect in his pieces the beautiful shape, colour and texture of these unique timbers.

The experience of moving to Denmark, in the south west of Western Australia, expanded his knowledge of timbers to include species like Jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata), Sheoak (Casuarina fraserana) and other regional timbers.

After completing an Advanced Certificate of Woodcraft course in Albany many years ago, Chris has exhibited extensively and his work has been placed in prestigious galleries and collections around Australia. Chris’s work has evolved over time from carved bowls, to finely worked sculptural forms, constructed objects, furniture, woodturning, domestic productions lines and large installations.

Aspects stocks Chris Reid's timber homewares and serving ware.

Made in Western Australia.
