Buttonworks Australia is a small family business owned and operated by Liz and Mike Murray, who began making wooden craft buttons in 2001.
Their product range is developed from a love of Australian timbers, to include souvenirs, gifts and jewellery featuring natural and urban icons, native flowers, birds and animals.
With a focus on sustainability, their products are designed to be compact, lightweight and safe to send overseas. All of the design, manufacturing and assembly is done in their studio across the bay from Melbourne, on the Mornington Peninsula.
They use several Australian timbers to make their products, these include Mountain Ash, Jarrah, Blackwood, Myrtle and Kwila. As a timber craft business, it is crucial to them to uphold the integrity of the materials they use. Each tree is different, the products reflect this. All of the timbers have been sealed and varnished, which helps protect them from water marking or staining.
Aspects stocks a range of Buttonworks' trivets, bookmarks, boxes and puzzles.
