Born in Tasmania and moving to Western Australia in 1978, Anne has lived more than half her life as a West Australian.
Anne has been a practicing glass artist for twenty years. In the last five years, kiln formed glass has become her dominant medium, displacing much of her leadlight and tiffany lamp building. Anne considers herself largely self taught.
Anne considers herself largely self taught and her work is often strip cut with inclusions of glass that have been previously combed, cast or manipulated when in a molten state. Pieces are often fired several times and shaped on forms or by heat and gravity. As Annes work is 9, 12, or 15 mm thick the pieces are then cold worked, which is an important feature of her work, enabling the viewer to see clearly into the layering of the piece . The cold working process is a very lengthy with some pieces taking hours to complete.
Anne is inspired by her emotional connection to nature and her latest series "Kaleidoscope" is an expression of her love of light and sunshine. A fascination with linear geometry has also lead clearly defined geometric art forms.
A selection of her work, including waves, sails, platters, sushi sets and stunning back lit totems can be purchased in store at Aspects of Kings Park.
